Q&A: July 2007

Q: Will we get a hint as to what Earth-borne resource is so interesting to these outworlders? Or why the one group is helping the other two independantly?

A: To answer this one in a totally straightforward way: yes. There is a reason Earth has become a target of interest. There is a reason why each race is acting the way it is. This is definitely not a story being made up as it goes along.

So far as hints, there's no hint I can give you now that's not already in the book. Yes, there are clues even in Dawn of Destiny concerning the aliens' arrivals on Earth. Subtle ones, perhaps, but clues nonetheless.

Q: What of the Ithini? Will we learn more of them in the next book?

A: Yes, definitely. The Ithini are an important part of the story, as are all of the races in the series. As an author, I have to watch out for information overload, hence why the first book focused on the Bakma and the necrilid primarily. The Ceratopians, Ithini, and canrassi will all have their moments, too. No race will go unmentioned at all, or forgotten after they've been mentioned.

Q: With several great characters who are EDEN veterans, what are the chances of a prequel focusing on their ascension to EDEN leadership and the encounters that led them there?

A: Slim to none for a prequel. I personally am not a fan of prequels. If you didn't read about the origins of a particular character, it's because it wasn't necessary to understand who that character is.
