I've finally reached a pivotal point in Hero - the moment of cohesion. It's not an official term, but it's what I call it when a book that is appearing closer and closer to chaos finally grabs traction and turns upright. Normally, a book that is becoming chaotic would be concerning to an author, except for one thing. So far, this has happened to me with every book in the Epic series. I suppose it's due to my "it's not right until it's perfect" mindset, but I often struggle to like my work while it's in the process of being written. I can't tell you how many times during the writing of Outlaw Trigger when I said to myself, "this is awful," or "this can't be saved." I had similar thoughts during Dawn of Destiny, so when they happened again during Hero, I wasn't overly concerned. I knew there would come a point when the stars would align, so to speak. I'm ecstatic to say it's finally happening!
Clocking in at a mad 110,000 words so far, the story of Hero is beginning to come full circle. Storylines are connecting, characters are heading where I want them to head, and the finish line has appeared at the edge of the horizon. As is the case with every book, my job won't be close to finished once the book is written. There will be many things that need to be streamlined and adjusted for the whole of the book to take shape. Believe it or not, that's the fun part.
Here's what I can tell you. Action-lovers will love Hero. The style of the book is very similar to the style of Dawn of Destiny, in that Hero will have some very grand battle sequences. Story-lovers will love Hero, too. Though the book picks up several months after the events of Outlaw Trigger, the storyline won't miss a beat. If you read book two, you know we're headed for serious drama. It'll be well worth the wait, and we're here to help pass the time!
With that said...be prepared for another character spotlight in two weeks, when we tackle two more of Epic's characters. Esther and Maksim were discussed last time, so it's time to bring in some not-so-new-faces.
Yeh don't want to be makin' anny other plans.
